Shoting Victim 'Was Gang Member'
The man shot dead in West Dublin on Saturday night may have been a gang member.
Richie McCormick, 29, was shot in Ronanstown in Dublin as he left his brother's house.
Mr McCormick had previously been investigated by the Criminal Assets Bureau and had a string of previous convictions.
The attack was a second of its kind this week in Dublin. Another 29 year old, John Berney, was shot dead in front of his partner in the bedroom of their house in Castlelyon on Thursday.
The news comes as the Garda Commissioner announced that Operation Anvil, which was set up to tackle organised crime, will not now be wound down.
Mr Murphy said that more than €20m had been set aside for Anvil operations and that will not be cut back.
Anvil is an intelligence-led initiative which he said must be targeted at the right people, and that money spent on it must show results.
More than 570 guns have been seized in the last two years, 5,000 people have been arrested and €13m worth of property has been recovered under 0peration Anvil.
