Teenage Screwdriver Murderers Could Go Free
The killers of two Polish men murdered outside a chip shop in Dublin could go free according to detectives investigating the case.
The detectives fear it may be difficult to secure a conviction against the youths as it is still unclear how each of the three prime suspects are implicated in the attack.
Gardaí are growing increasingly concerned that a trial could go the way of the infamous trial of those suspected of the Brian Murphy murder outside Anabel’s night club, where conflicting testimonies and refutable evidence meant no convictions could be secured against the several suspects.
So far, Garda have been able to place three men at the scene of the murder, and believe that a 17 year-old youth stabbed Marius Szwajikos in the head, but are unsure if he also killed Pawel Kailte.
A number of witnesses to the attack last Saturday week have given different accounts of what happened and sources say they fear an 'Anabel's' type scenario because of doubts about who played what role in the murders.
The attack happened at a chip shop on the Benbulben Road, in Drimnagh, on the south side of Dublin after words were exchanged outside between the Polish men and a gang of teenagers. It is thought the suspect left the scene and returned with a screwdriver before brutally attacking the two men and fleeing.
