Paddy's Day Riot Mars Festivities

Two cars were hijacked and an attempt was made to hijack a third vehicle in the Berryfield and Glenties Drive area of Finglas on St Patrick's Day. A gang of around 60 people also set fire to at least six vehicles.

Gardaí were forced to send a riot squad into the Dublin housing estate yesterday as the violent gang of youths went on the rampage after the 17th March St Patrick's Day festivities.

A garda helicopter were called to the scene as other gardaí in riot gear moved in as 17 people were arrested.

The youths involved had apparently been drinking since around 10am prompting the chaotic scenes.

Gang Rips Finger Off Tourist
An English tourist has lost a finger during an attack by a gang during St Patrick's Day. Guy Wallace, 17, was celebrating St Patrick's Day in O'Connell Street when he was approached by a group of five youths. They asked him where he was from and attacked him when the teenager told them he was from England.

Open Day To Be Held At Wind Farm To Mark Global Wind Day 2014
A public open day is to be held at the Hollyford Wind Farm, giving people the opportunity to "learn about the turbines and renewable electricity". Operators of the wind farm, Energia, will meet visitors to the farm and take them on a guided tour of the facilities.

Appeal For Missing Man Patrick Heeran
Gardai in Mohill are renewing their appeal in seeking the public's help in locating Leitrim man Patrick Heeran who is missing from Aughavas, Co. Leitrim since early in October 2011. Patrick, 48, was last seen in Mohill, Co Leitrim at 4.20pm on 3rd October 2011. Patrick is 5'9" in height and of stocky build with fair hair.

Jury Find Bin Lorry Driver Not Guilty
A driver charged with dangerous driving for causing the death of a toddler has been found not guilty. Alex McDaid, 60, from Bromany, denied the charge in relation to the death of three-year-old Patrick McDonagh which happened outside his home at Ballymacool in February 2010.
