Ireland Racist?

There was a third more racially motivated incidents last year in the Republic.

According to figures released ahead of anti-racism week attacks rose by 33% on 2006.

The incidents included in a report by the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism have been forwarded either directly by victims or people representing them.

Latest figures show there have been around 45 racist incidents reported and compiled by the NCCRI between July and December last year.

In 2007 there were 99 cases compared to 65 in the previous year.

Half of those incidents occurred in the greater Dublin area.

Anti-racism week starts on April the 7th.
