Work On M3 Commences After Violence

The stalled work on the M3 Motorway has recommenced after protesters attacked construction workers at the site.

A previous agreement between workers and protesters to halt work on the site for four weeks ended last night with the announcement by an NRA spokesman saying: "All deals are off."

Protesters allegedly began intimidating workers as they erected a fence near the site. The workers claimed they were then pelted with stones.

Plotting work has now resumed and members of the Rath Lugh Direct Action camp have threatened to throw themselves in front of machinery and equipment to stop the work near the Co Meath monument of an ancient fort around 2.5kms from the Hill of Tara.

The National Roads Authority insists its construction work on the controversial M3 motorway is not damaging a protected national monument.
