Man Held Over Kerry Shooting

Garda in the double murder case of two Kerry famers are holding a man suspected of the killings.

The bodies of the two men, Michael Hanrahan, 54, and his son Denis, 27, were found in their home on Thursday with shotgun wounds.

A 30-year-old north Kerry man has been held in custody since Saturday night. Garda have applied for an extension to the period of custody and have 48 hours to charge the suspect with the murders.

Police and Gardaí investigating the murder of the Co. Kerry father and son found eight spent rounds at the scene.

They believe the spent cartridges found could provide vital evidence on which to convict the killer.

Over 70 Gardaí officers are working on the investigation, while the gun and cartridges are being examined at Garda Technical House in Dublin.
