Galway Boiling In April

Householders in Galway have been asked to boil all their tap water before drinking due to a parasitic presence.

Traces have been found of the bug Cryptosporidium in Galway's water supply. The find has forced water providers to request Galway residents to boil all their household water before consuming.

All water must be boiled before drinking, food preparation or brushing of teeth, according to the water authority.

The boil notice applies to Roundstone, Errisbeg and Inishnee.

The council says it is working to improve the water supply and ensure the security of supply to local residents.

Ireland’s water providers have has a tough week with Up to 4,000 homes in the Waterford towns of Raharney, Killucan, Kinnegad, Milltownpass, Tyrellspass, Kilbeggan, Rochfordbridge, Ballymore, Ballinacarrigy, and Rathowen being left without water after an electrical fault at a treatment plant.
