14 Year-Old Blasts Limerick House
A family home in Limerick has been attacked by a 14 year-old armed with a shotgun and apparently 'drugged up'.
The boy - who had been released from custody only three hours beforehand - was previously arrested by gardaí whilst driving a stolen car, wearing a bullet proof vest and armed with a knife.
The school boy, who is only 4 feet tall, was then arrested for the second time that day and had been reportedly 'drugged up' according to local witnesses.
Gardaí believe the boy was accompanied by an 18 year-old during the attack, which targeted a home in St Munchin’s Street, St Mary’s Park at 6.15am.
After firing at the home, the two boys fled the scene. The Emergency Response Unit was on patrol in the area, and the two boys were arrested and are being held. A sawn-off shotgun was retrieved nearby.
The police said the 14 year-old boy had been released into the custody of a guardian in the estate only hours beforehand.
The attack has been the third serious incident in the estate in under a week. The Emergency Response Unit was deployed to the area in an effort to curb an ongoing feud in the estate.
