Leaving Leaders To Meet At Boyne Site
Northern Ireland's First Minister and the Taoiseach are in talks to meet at the site of the Battle of the Boyne Heritage Centre on Bertie Ahern's last day in office.
The proposal is reportedly being discussed by the two administrations.
Both leaders are due to step down next month, Ahern succumbing to mounting pressures forcing him to prematurely abdicate.
Mr Ahern's relationship with the DUP leader, Ian Paisley, has been a significant feature in recent years.
Last Spring Dr Paisley travelled to events in Farmleigh House in Dublin and then at the Battle of the Boyne site.
While on his visit to the Boyne site last May, Mr Paisley presented the Taoiseach with a musket used in both the Battle of the Boyne and the siege of Derry.
Now there is a real possibility that on what will be Mr Ahern's final day as Taoiseach, Dr Paisley may travel to meet him again at the Battle of the Boyne heritage centre in Co Meath.
Dr Paisley is due to step down as DUP leader at the end of May, Mr Ahern announced his stepping down will take place on May 5.
