Post Disrupted In South Dublin
Postal deliveries have come to a standstill in several affluent areas of south Dublin.
An Post says it is blaming the situation on a small number of staff who are refusing to co-operate with new working arrangements, causing serious delays.
Major delays are expected due to the dispute with local staff at offices in Blackrock and Dublin 4.
An Post says it is working with union representatives to resolve the row and is urging customers not to post any mail to Blackrock, Stillorgan, Booterstown, Mount Merrion and Deansgrange, as well as addresses in the Dublin 4 postal district.
The postal staff are refusing to cooperate with new practices such as compulsory overtime and have rejected a new nationwide system for the collection and delivery of post. The action by the employees has led to a massive backlog, which is causing delays.
