Nail Bomb Discovered In Cabra
Gardaí in Dublin are investigating the discovery of a nail bomb underneath a car in the city last night.
A number of homes were evacuated while army bomb disposal experts examined the device found in the Broombridge Road area of the Dublin distrct of Cabra at around 11pm.
A controlled explosion was carried out and the area was subsequently declared safe.
Residents were allowed to return to their homes and the road was re-opened at 1.30am.
The remains of the device were taken to McKee barracks for further examination. The car involved as well as other items found at the scene are being technically examined by ordinance disposal teams.
No arrests have yet been made.

The Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe a viable device in Dublin. The improvised explosive was found close to the Hollystown roundabout, on the Cappagh Road in Finglas, at approximately 11.45pm on Tuesday night. The area was sealed off for a period of time and the device has been taken for further examination.

Bomb disposal experts were tasked to a Dublin pub on Sunday morning, after being alerted to the finding of a suspicious device. Experts examined the device found outside the north Dublin Jolly Toper premises, concealed in a package located in a vehicle in the car park on Church Street, Finglas at around 8.30am.

The Defence Forces say a suspicious device that saw traffic diversions put in place in Dublin this morning was an elaborate hoax. The object was found near the Richmond Courthouse on North Brunswick Street at around 7am on Wednesday morning. Gardai sealed off the street while army bomb disposal experts examined the device.

The team rendered the device safe without the need for a controlled explosion and the scene was declared safe at 4.30am.
