Soldier Dies from Shooting Accident In Cork

A garda investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accidental shooting of a soldier in Cork city this morning is currently underway.

The soldier - who was reporting for duty at Collins' Barracks - was shot dead at 8.40am. He was in his 40s.

It is understood army investigators are treating the incident as accidental and that no one else was involved.

An investigation is currently underway.

Teenager And Young Child Injured In Alleged Shooting In West Dublin
An investigation has been launched into an alleged shooting incident in West Dublin. According to reports, a teenager and a young child have been injured in an incident that gardaí have said is "ongoing" in the Parlickstown area of Blanchardstown. Two Held Over Attempted Shooting Attack Released
Two men arrested in connection with an attempted shooting attack in Dublin have been released without charge. The incident occurred at a car park next to the Islandbridge Court Apartments on 1 November. A Honda Civic rammed another car at the scene. Two occupants in the car then ran after the driver of the other vehicle and fired a number of shots.

Three Arrested In Cork Shooting Investigation
Gardaí in Cork have arrested three men in connection with a shooting in the city on Monday night. According to gardaí a man aged in his 20s was shot a number of times by a man on a motorbike. The victim is being treated at Mercy University Hospital. Gardí have appealed for witnesses to the shooting, or any one with any information, to contact them.

Investigation Launched Over Shooting Incident In Clondalkin
An investigation is underway following a shooting incident in Clondalkin, Dublin, on Monday, 02 May. A man in his 20's received gunshot wounds to his leg and arm shortly before 9pm in Shancastle Drive. The victim was taken to hospital, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Athreny Shooting Incident Probed
An investigation into a serious incident at a house in Athenry, County Galway is currently underway. Around 9pm yesterday, Gardai responded to a call about a disturbance in a house in Fernhill. Upon entering the property they discovered extensive damage.
