An Post Accused Of Failing to Meet Targets
Communications Minister Eamon Ryan has accused An Post of falling "significantly" short of its 94% next-day delivery target.
The Communications Minister made the announcement, as it was revealed the Irish postal sector may be forced to pay hefty fines for failing to meet the targets.
Mr Ryan has given the Communications Regulator more powers over An Post. These would include the right to seek financial sanctions through the courts if the postal service fails to comply with one of its directions, or its delivery targets.
The new regulations would be implemented to help enhance the quality of An Post.
