Youth Held After Fatal Stabbing
Gardaí have named the 16-year-old Ukrainian national who was killed at the weekend at Carrig Midhe, Westbury, Co Clare as Roman Vysochan of Ashley Close, also Westbury.
A police statement said that a second youth - aged 16 - that was injured in the same incident and was taken to Limerick University Hospital with a stab wound.
He remains in hospital but his injury is not life threatening.
The gardaí are investigating the fatal incident, which happened shortly after 11pm on the 10th of May. The victim was stabbed in the chest.
The youth was found lying on the footpath with a chest wound and was pronounced dead on arrival at Limerick Regional Hospital.
The scene of the incident has been preserved for technical examination and shortly before 8.00am on the 11th of May a 16-year-old male was arrested in relation to the incident, he is detained at Mayorstone Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Meanwhile, a man is in a serious condition in hospital following a serious assault in the same area as the fatal stabbing.
The victim, who is in his mid 40s, was assaulted outside a pub on Hyde Road, Limerick city just after 10.30pm last night.
He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Dooradoyle.
The scene has been sealed off for technical examination and gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

Gardai have launched an investigation following a suspicious fire at a house in Rhode, Co. Offaly on Monday. The incident occurred between 11.30pm on Sunday and 1.50am on Monday. A 24-year-old man sustained serious injuries and has been transferred to St James Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Eight Arrested In Dundalk Murder Inquiry
Gardaí investigating the murder of Aidan Myers in Dundalk last year have arrested eight people. Six men and two women were arrested this morning. It is understood that four men, aged 19 and 26, are being questioned in relation to Mr Myers' murder, while two men and two women are being questioned on suspicion of withholding information.
