Hi-Tech Investigation Launched For Dead Pensioner
Gardaí are continuing to seek help from the public in piecing together the circumstances leading to the death of an 83-year-old man at his house in Co Westmeath yesterday.
Christy Hanley's body was discovered at the house on Bridge Street in Kilbeggan following an anonymous phone call to Tullamore Garda Station.
Gardaí have called in technical experts to try to identify the source of the anonymous phone call that led to the discovery of the body of Christy Hanley at his home. Superintendent Aidan Glacken said the force is taking technical steps to try and source the call.
The pensioner's relatives believe he died after a robbery at his Co Westmeath home on Wednesday night.
A post mortem was carried out yesterday, but the results have not been released.
When local guards went to the house they had to use an iron bar to break in, and relatives of the 83-year-old say he was found in a state of semi-undress with his hands tied up.
Much of the garda investigation is focusing on tracing the person who made the anonymous phonecall that led to the discovery of Mr Hanley's body.
