Irish Naturists Chill Out

Hardy Irish naturists should feel better this week with news of a call to erect signage at a local nudist beach.

A Leitrim member of the Irish Naturist Association is calling on the area's county councils in the North West to provide signage on beaches that are frequently used for nude sunbathing.

It's understood that the nudist beaches throughout the North West region - with Trawalua beach near Cliffoney being recently voted the number one nudist beach in the world - despite the prevailing temperatures - are to get warning signs.

Currently, Ireland is the only country in the EU, which does not have legislation for clothing optional areas.

However, a spokesperson for the Irish Naturist Association (INA), Pat Gallagher, who currently resides in Leitrim said: "Many of the councils have told the INA that they do not have the power to erect signage to alert the public that nude sunbathers may be on the beach."

According to airline, easyjet's website, Trawalua Beach, Cliffony, Co Sligo, is where people "must come here for the (craic)" as the saying goes.

It relates that only brave bodies withstand the full Atlantic breeze, but the extensive dunes offer shelter and a secluded haven for those determined souls.
