Health Workers Work-To-Rule
The 28,000 members of IMPACT working in HSE and HSE funded agencies will escalate their current work-to-rule from Monday 9 June.
In a circular issued to members this week, the Health and Welfare Division of the union outlined a new instruction to withdraw co-operation from reporting procedures. The union says that this action will enable members to focus the current dispute on to the HSE at a corporate level, and minimise the effect of the action on patients.
Kevin Callinan, the union's National Secretary for Health & Welfare said: "Our members gave IMPACT a mandate for various forms of industrial action up to and including full scale strike action. This is the next step in this campaign, and we believe it is appropriate as it has a minimal effect on services. In addition, this action effectively starves the HSE of the information it uses to make cuts in services."
IMPACT health workers throughout the country will take part in a lunchtime protest, against cutbacks in the health services, next Wednesday 27 June at 27 locations nationwide. The protest will be joined by IMPACT health workers, members from other divisions of IMPACT, supporters from other health worker unions, and local support groups.
