Man Abducted And Beaten Over Drugs Say Gardaí

Gardaí have revealed that they suspect the abduction and beating of a 30 year-old man in Cork was over drugs.

The man from the Carrigtwohill area of east Cork was taken away and badly beaten by a group of men in Cork.

He was bundled into the boot of a car by two or three men at Paul Street in the city centre at around 3.30am this morning and driven to Inniscarra outside Cork. The man was held there and beaten for some time.

After the attack he made his way to a house in the area where the alarm was raised before being taken to Cork University Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

The man's injuries are not life threatening and gardaí are hoping to interview him later today.

Gardaí believe the attack may have been drug related.
