'Heavy Rain' Predicted Across The Country

'Take care on the roads' is the message for motorists across Ireland today, as outbreaks of heavy rain have been forecast for many parts of the country.

Forecasters have warned that the heavy downpours could lead to reduced visibility on the roads. Coastal counties could also experience spot flooding.

According to reports, the weather has also caused disruption to ferry services.

Winter Weather Arrives Across Ireland
After a drop in temperature, gale force winds, heavy rainfall and even a touch of snow the island of Ireland has now seen flights cancelled, motorists stranded and homes flooded. Severe winds at Dublin Airport have resulted in a number of flights being grounded or diverted to Shannon or Belfast Airports last night.

Met Eireann Issues Orange Weather Warning
Met Eireann has issued an orange weather warning for heavy rainfall this afternoon, 06 June. Thundery conditions are expected in some parts of Ireland and flooding may occur. The showers are expected to continue to break out through the rest of the day, most like across Leinster and the Northwest.

Ireland Set For Big Freeze After Downpours
While England is being crippled by severe overnight snow falls, the Irish Republic has been battling with the impact of flooding yesterday - and it looks like there's heavy snow and frost to follow. The Tipperary towns of Clonmel and Nenagh were worst hit as water levels in both towns rose dramatically after two days of heavy rain.

Met Éireann Warn Of More Heavy Rain
A warning has been issued for further heavy rain today and tomorrow by Met Éireann. Torrential rain over the weekend caused flooding in several parts across the country, affecting sporting events and the final day of the Dublin Horse Show.

Skibbereen Faces Flooding Risk
An effort to protect parts of Skibbereen in west Cork has been launched following fears of flooding this afternoon. A combination of high tide, sea swells, heavy rain and melting snow has led to concerns that some areas may be badly flooded.
