Prisoner Orchestrated Drug Trafficking Ring

A jailed man with suspected links to criminal gangs is believed to have orchestrated a multi-million euro drug trafficking ring.

Gardaí have said the latest revelations are significant and say they have been targeting this supply network for some time and further searches and arrests are expected.

Three men were arrested in Dublin yesterday evening following the seizure of €5m worth of heroin.

The seizure is the result of a garda operation targeting a drug dealing network they believe is run by a man in prison.

At 5pm, officers from the Organised Crime Unit and the national and Clondalkin drugs units raided a storage company in Clondalkin and discovered 20kg of heroin worth €4m.

A 24-year-old man was arrested there and a 36-year-old man was detained nearby.

The 36-year-old prisoner, who is from Tallaght, is believed to be the organiser and a dealer with connections to Limerick and Cork criminal gangs.

A parked car was also searched on Sperrin Road in Crumlin and another 5kg of heroin worth €1m seized.
