Missing Dublin Man Located

Gardaí have thanked the media for their help in the now successfully concluded search for a missing Dublin man.

They initially said that John Sturgess of Sundrive Road in Crumlin, Dublin had gone missing on Wednesday.

They asked the media for help as they were seeking assistance from the public in tracing the whereabouts of the 43-year-old.

They said he "was causing concerns" as he was unable to speak or hear and, they said, may have been seeking assistance.

However, on Friday, he turned up safe and well - and the police said they appreciated media assistance in resolving the matter.

Meanwhile, Gardaí at Clontarf Garda Station are investigating an armed robbery which occurred on Howth Road, Clontarf at approximately 1.15pm yesterday, 3 July.

Security company staff were servicing ATMs when they were held up by at least two raiders

The two men produced what appeared to be a sawn off shotgun and a single shot was fired.

Cash was stolen from the security staff and the two suspects made their getaway at a four wheel drive/jeep type vehicle.

Garda would like anyone who was in the area to contact them at Clontarf on 666 4800.

Meanwhile, in other news, officers from Finglas and Blanchardstown drugs units, supported by local Gardaí, carried out searched at houses in the Finglas area yesterday.

In the course of the searched Gardai seized 25,000 ecstasy tablets with an estimated street value €250,000, and three kgs of herbal cannabis valued at €20,000.

Thye said that two males were arrested, on aged 22 and the other 47.

They are detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Finglas and Cabra Garda Stations and can now be held for up to seven days.

Convicted Sex Offender Arrested At Dublin Airport
A convicted sex offender has been arrested at Dublin Airport. Mian Shahid, 19, was arrested by gardai at around 10.40pm on Monday night as he was boarding a flight to Dubai. He is currently being held at Clontarf Garda Station and is expected to appear at the High Court later today.

Man Remanded In Custody For Wasting Garda Time Over Alleged Kidnapping
A 68-year-old property developer has been charged with wasting Garda time, after falsely claiming to have been abducted for eight months. Kevin McGeever was arrested on Tuesday evening at his home in Clontarf, Dublin and taken to Gort in Galway, where the investigation into his alleged disappearance has been based.
