Limerick Native Found Dead In Alaska
Police in the United States are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an Irishman who was found in Alaska last week.
Edward Byrnes, originally from Limerick, was found dead beneath a bridge in the city of Anchorage last Friday.
It is thought the 36-year-old - a member of the US army, who had recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq - may have fallen from his death from the bridge.
Police in Anchorage, which is the state of Alaska's largest city, are appealing for witnesses who may have any information to contact them.

All-Ireland Single Surgical Children's Heart Unit Announced
Ministers from the north and south have agreed that paediatric heart surgery in Ireland will be focused in a single surgical centre in Dublin. The decision brings an end to the uncertainty of children's heart operations in the north, with Northern Ireland's Health Minister, Jim Wells, confirming the service would end in Belfast.

Tallagh Shooting Death Probed
A body has been found in a house in Tallaght which Gardai say is that of a man aged in his thirties. It was discovered in Donomore estate shortly after noon. The city coroner and State Pathologist have been informed of the discovery. The scene has been sealed off for a forensic team to investigate. It is believed the man was shot dead.

Skull Found By Workmen Found To Be Human Remains
The State Pathologist has ruled that a skull found by workmen in Swords on Thursday is from a human. A preliminary examination has established that the skull is that of a human male. It is understood that a forensic anthropologist is being brought in to try and identify the deceased. Police are also checking missing persons files.

Investigation Launched Into Cork Death
Gardaí in Cork have launched an investigation into the death of an elderly man at his home in the city. Gus Hornibrook, 74, was found in his house in Temple Acre Avenue in the Gurranabraher area of the city around 12pm on Tuesday. Gardaí have confirmed that his death is being treated as suspicious. A post-mortem took place on Wednesday afternoon.
