Pay-And-Display Scheme For Dublin Rail Network

Dublin commuters are to face increased charges, as part of a pay-and-display scheme at a number of stations in the city's rail network, it has been confirmed.

Those travelling on the Greater Dublin rail network are to be charged €2 per day, or a discounted rate of €8 per week, under new plans announced by CÍE.

The contract will come into force from September of this year, and 37 stations will be affected by the changes.

CÍE announced the plans after they signed a deal with a private parking control and clamping company, which will see the provider receive over €3 million, and a third of which will go to the Government rail group.

The company said the money that it collects would go towards the expansion of new parking spaces on the network.
