Second Dublin Transport Accident Injuries Man

A man in his 60s has been hit by a Luas tram at St Stephen's Green in Dublin.

It is the second such incident in as many days for Dublin's public transport department.

The collision happened around 2.00pm on Tuesday afternoon. Gardaí say the man sustained superficial injuries and was taken to St James's hospital.

Two units of Dublin Fire Brigade and one ambulance attended the accident, while the outbound Luas blocked Cuffe Street and St Stephen's Green south following for a lengthy period, but has since been cleared.

In a similar accident on Monday morning, DART train in Dublin hit a woman. The incident happened at about 10am at Clontarf Road DART station.

The woman was taken to hospital.

The line between Connolly and Howth stations was closed for about 20 minutes following the incident, and some trains were delayed as a result.

Man Stable After Being Struck By Luas
A man struck by a Luas tram in south Dublin on Tuesday night is in a stable condition in hospital. The incident happened at Cheeverstown at about 20:15 on Tuesday, Dublin Fire Service have said. It is understood that an 18-year-old man was on the tracks between the Citywest and Cheeverstown stops when he was hit.

Man Seriously Injured In Dublin Shooting
A man is being treated in hospital after receiving serious injures in a shooting attack in Cabra, Dublin. The incident happened on the Killala Road at around 7.30pm on Sunday. The 54-year-old victim, who is known to gardaí, was shot a number of times when he was walking his dog. He is in a serious condition at the Mater Hospital.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
