Walsh Proves 'Ireland Has Talent'

Irish pop mogul Louis Walsh is on a Dublin-bound star-search today.

The Mayo mega-star maker is looking for the country's newest girl band, and has enlisted Westlife crooner Kian Egan to help in the hunt.

Open auditions kicked-off this afternoon at The Pod on Dublin's Harcourt Street, and will run until 6pm tomorrow.

Today's venue has particular significance as it was there Walsh spotted chart-toppers Boyzone and Westlife.

X-Factor Judge Walsh is now looking for five females, aged between 15 and 25, with enough "raw talent" to become the next big pop sensation.

Louis previously managed UK pop group Girls Aloud, who have been dogged by continued rumours of a split.

Walsh's latest venture is sure to again fan the flames of a break-up of the five-piece, fronted by Derry lass Nadine Coyle.

Walsh has helped countless Irish artists sells millions of records across the world, but others have not been so fortunate.

Samantha Mumba and 'Popstars' winners Six are among some of Louis's less successful projects.

Today's contenders will have to prove their worth by singing a capella in front of Walsh and his panel.

The girls will also be judged on their appearance.

Press reports have suggested Walsh is scrabbling to put together a fresh female band after the success of girls groups The Saturdays and City Girls.

Kian Egan is reportedly helping out because the eventual band will be formed around his girlfriend Jodi Albert.
