Woman Held Over Fatal Hit and Run

A woman in her 30s is being held by gardaí following a fatal hit and run collision in Galway.

Gardai at Galway are investigating what is believed to be a fatal hit and run collision after the body of a man in his 60s was discovered at Drumgriffin, Corandulla, Co Galway at 8.50am on Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem examination will be carried out by the Deputy State pathologist this afternoon at University College Hospital Galway.

The woman arrested in relation to the incident being held at Galway Garda Station.

Garda would like anybody who was on the Lough George to Corandulla road beween 1.00am and 9.00am to contact them.

Gardai are seeking to speak to the female occupants of a BMW car, which stopped at the scene of the crash and contacted emergency services.

The road at the scene of the crash was closed while a forensic examination of the crash site is carried out.

Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Crash
A man has been killed in a collision in Galway. The car crash happened at around 2.45am this morning on the Headford to Galway Road. The 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

ESB Continuing To Work To Restore Power After Storm Lorenzo
ESB have restored power to some 12,000 homes, farms and businesses, affected by Storm Lorenzo, while work continues to restore power to 3,600 customers still without power. A clean-up operation is underway across the west and northwest following the storm on Thursday. According to reports, substantial flooding was experienced across Donegal.
