Young DJ Dies In Traffic Collision After Gig
A 20-year-old DJ has been killed in a two-car crash in Co Donegal, on Monday night.
Joseph McFadden of Abbey Villas, Manorcunningham, was killed just two kilometres from his home on the N13 Letterkenny to Derry road at 3.40am, as he returned home from a gig.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. A garda spokesman said: "The driver of the second car, a man in his 20s, was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital.
"His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The two men were the only occupants of their cars."
The road at the scene of the crash is closed while Garda investigators carry out a forensic examination.
His death brought to four the number of fatalities on Irish roads this weekend, including two pedestrians, in counties Donegal, Clare and Galway.
The impact is reported to have propelled the other vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta, off the road and down a steep embankment into a field.
Miraculously, the driver, a 25-year-old male from Derry, sustained injuries that were not life threatening and was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who was using the road between 3.30am and 4am yesterday morning to contact Letterkenny Garda Station.
Mr McFadden's death brings the number of fatalities on Donegal roads this year to nine, compared with 13 this time last year.
