Victims Of Corruption Receive €11m in Compensation
The negligence and corruption uncovered by the Morris Tribunal has resulted in payouts of €11 million for the 55 victims of gardaí misconduct.
The 55 Donegal-related civil actions were part of a total of 190 civil cases connected to the actions of members of An Garda Siochana last year.

At the Morris Tribunal, which concluded last year, a number of officers who worked in the Donegal division had been found to be negligent or corrupt, and it was concluded that evidence had been planted on more than one occasion by officers to secure convictions.
Accusations that officers had also harassed members of the McBrearty family and their associates were also upheld, resulting in significant payouts to the family.
