Sligo Council Issues Boil Water Notice

A notice to boil all tap water has been issued to householders in a number of parts of Co Sligo due to discolouration in the water supply.

The Kilsellagh reservoir serves the Rosses Point and Kiltycahill areas, as well as northern parts of Sligo town, and its water has become discoloured.

A spokesman for the council said: "Due to the recent exceptional level of rainfall particularly in the locality of Kilsellagh Reservoir which is the supply source for the Rosses Point Area, Kiltycahill and Northern parts of Sligo Town, customers may have noticed that the water is discoloured.

"As a precaution Sligo County Council recommends that consumers in these areas boil the water before consumption."

According to the spokesman, the Council expects the problem will be resolved in the coming days.
