Toddler Killed By Falling Television Buried
A two year-old toddler killed in a freak accident, after being crushed by a television while she was playing, has been laid to rest.
Hayleigh Coghlan-Burke, 2, died instantly in the tragedy while she was happily playing at a relative's house near her family home.
According to reports, little Hayleigh was climbing when the television set became loose and fell from a cabinet, causing fatal injuries.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but efforts to resuscitate her failed and she was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to hospital.
The incident mirrors a similar incident when - just before Christmas - a child in the Firhouse area of Dublin also died after being hit by a falling television.
The little girl is the grandniece of Irish track hero Eamonn Coghlan, who told an Irish newspaper: "She was just two years of age. The TV toppled on her killing her instantly – it's unbelievable."
Hayleigh's funeral took place at St Mark's Church in Springfield on Wednesday morning, with family friend Fr Damien O'Reilly, from St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, celebrating the Mass.
