Four Dead On Roads Over Weekend

Ireland's road death toll has taken a jump by a further four this week, following a series of road accidents during the weekend.

Gardaí are investigating the cases, the latest of which involved two cars and left a 25 year-old female driver dead.

The incident occurred on Commons Road, shortly before 1am on Sunday morning in which the woman’s passenger received minor injuries. The driver of the second car, who was alone, is also receiving treatment for his injuries and is described as not life threatening. All three were taken to Cork University Hospital

This section of road is currently closed and diversions are in place from Fitz's Boreen and Killeens Junction. Gardaí have announced there is no access from Parklands onto the Mallow road, and have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

In a second tragedy, a man has died as a result of collision on the N21 at Clogh, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick on Friday.

He was the driver of the car and passed away on Sunday evening in Limerick Regional Hospital. He has been named as 31 year-old Polish National Adam Zajac, with an Address in Castletroy.

The other man killed was also a Polish National with an address in Castletroy. He has been named as 30 year old Tomasz Stelmaszczuk.

Finally, Gardai in Tramore are looking into an incident where a 35 year-old male motorcyclist was fatally injured when he lost control of his motorcycle at Monvoy, Tramore, Co Waterford at approx 3.30pm on Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Waterford Regional Hospital.

Four Dead Within 24 Hours On Irish Roads
Two drivers have been killed on roads in the Irish Republic in the past 24 hours as well as two others in the North. Gardai at Maynooth, Co Kildare are investigating the most recent incident when a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision occurred at Laraghbyran, Maynooth last night 19th October 10.00pm. Three Killed On Ireland's Roads Over Weekend
A total of three people have been killed on Ireland's roads this weekend in separate incidents. On Saturday, A 34 year old male driver of motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident after a in County Galway. The accident took place on a minor road at Cahercon, Kinvarra, Co. Galway at 12.25pm.

Arrest As Second Crash Teenager Dies
Gardaí investigating a fatal accident in Cork city which claimed the lives of two teenagers have arrested a man. Officers are questioning a 40-year-old man in connection with the incident while a 21-year-old man is also helping them with their inquiries after the accident - in Cork on Harbour View Road, Knocknaheeney - at 11.35pm last night.

Roads Claim Latest Victims
There's an investigation underway in Co Westmeath after the death in hospital of a road accident victim who was fatally injured nearly two weeks ago. Gardaí in Ballynacargy are seeking help over what is now a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision. It occurred at Balroe, shortly after 6.00am on Saturday, 8th August.

NRA Call For Introduction Of Additional Tolls On M50
The National Roads Authority (NRA) has called for the introduction of more tolls on the M50 in an effort to address gridlock on the countries busiest road. The NRA said that "effective measures" were needed to address congestion on the M50, and that traffic control decisions needed to be "taken now".
