Top GAA Player Has Ear Bitten Off Outside Nightclub

A GAA star has had his ear partially bitten off in a horrific attack outside a Donegal nightclub.

Kevin Cassidy, 27, who is Captain of the Donegal County team and previously named in the GAA All-Star panel, was chased and beaten by a gang of young men outside the newly opened Voodoo club in Derrybeg, near his hometown of Gweedore.

During the attack, Mr Cassidy reportedly had a significant portion of his ear bitten off by one of the gang.

The wing-back told an Irish newspaper he had left the nightclub, which was officially opened by Ireland and Celtic midfielder Aiden McGeedy earlier that evening, at 2.00am and was attacked approximately 200 meters from the club's entrance.

Gardaí are investigating the incident, and several men from the Falcaragh area of Donegal were questioned, however no arrests have so far been made.
