Murder Appeal After Nine Years Pass
Gardaí have re-launched a murder probe - after a nine year investigation has proven fruitless.
The inquiry is into the murder on Raonaid Murray in 1999, and markes the run -up to the nine-year anniversary of her death.
Gardaí at Dun Laoghaire are continuing their investigation into the murder, which occurred on the 4th September 1999, in Dublin.
Raonaid's brutal and apparently motiveless murder occurred after she left Scott's Public House in Dun Laoghaire at 11.20pm after a Friday night out.
Her body was found later at Silchester Crescent in Glenageary at 12.40am, only 500 yards from her home.
Many of the people who were around Dun Laoghaire on the night of the murder were in their late teens and early twenties and are now in their twenties and thirties.
Gardaí believe that there may still be some people that have vital information who have not come forward to date.
A gardaí spokesman said: "These people, some now possibly parents themselves, may be in a better position to come forward with information.
"The Gardaí are again appealing to those persons to come forward and assist the investigation.
"The murder is being reviewed currently and this is an opportune time for anyone with information to come forward. Any information provided to the Gardaí will be treated with the utmost confidentiality."
The Murray family has also joined the appeal to the public for information, which may lead to the arrest of Raonaid's killer.
The family urge anybody with information to contact the Garda Incident room at Dun Laoghaire, phone 01-6665012 or alternatively on the Garda Confidential line at 1800 666 111.
They said this week that the solving of this murder remains a top priority for An Gárda Síochána.
