Homeless Campaign Stepped Up in Economic Gloom
A homeless support group has announced plans to highlight the plight of Ireland’s homeless.
The Simon Community has revealed details on Thursday of its new campaign to highlight the problem which will include running its first ever Simon Week from the end of the month to raise awareness about the root causes of homelessness in this country.
The campaign also urges people to get involved in tackling homelessness in their local communities.
Chief Executive of the Simon Community, Patrick Burke, said the problem should remain a priority, despite the down-turn in the economy.
“Now more than ever it's important that we keep an eye on homelessness and make sure that the government's commitment to the eradication of homelessness by 2010 is actually met,” he said.
