Three Questioned In Latest Drug Find
Three men are being questioned after gardai seized heroin worth approximately €100,000 euro in Cork yesterday.
Officers discovered the 0.5kg of heroin at a house in Brooklodge, Glanmuire, at around 16.45.
The men, who are in their 20's, were taken to Cobh Garda Station yesterday evening for questioning.
The haul is a further success for the police with news this week that Irish and NI police and Dutch officers had worked together to stymie an international drug and gun smuggling ring.
Dutch police arrested three men and a woman as part of an international investigation into an Irish crime gang after Irish police arrested several men in what had emerged as a cross-Europe operation targeting organised crime.
The events began earlier this week, with one man was arrested in Belfast and another in Dublin as part of the operation against a drugs and weapon smuggling network.
The PSNI have already seized 14 pistols and separately arrested a 34-year-old man in Belfast's Europa Hotel, while gardai seized 27 other firearms in the Republic and heroin worth about £3.25m at the same time as a 42-year-old man was detained in north Dublin by Garda officers.
However, a further two men, who were arrested in Birr, Co Offaly and Roscrea, Co Tipperary by gardai have since been freed without any charge.
