New Obesity Site Serves-Up Advice On Weight Loss

A fully interactive weight loss website has been launched, to help tackle Ireland's obesity problem.

In 2005, the World Health Organisation suggested 18% of Irish people were obese.

Now advice on diet, nutrition and exercise has been made accessible online at obesityireland.ie

The website is billed as a comprehensive guide to safe and effective weight loss.

Offering expert guidance on practical steps for healthy eating, motivation, sizing portions and fitting exercise into daily routines.

Award winning Irish celebrity chef, Derry Clarke, is also on-board.

The chef has posted a number of healthy recipes on the site, which allows visitors to calculate their body mass index (BMI).

More controversially, the site pledges to provide "up-to-date information and clear advice on weight loss surgery", including laparoscopic gastric banding (lap banding), which helps reduce food intake.
