Ryanair Flight Aborted As Tail Strikes Tarmac
A Ryanair flight leaving Dublin was forced to abandon its take off after scraping its tail along the runway.
The flight to Stansted had to return to Dublin on Thursday morning after the aircraft's tail made contact with the ground during takeoff manoeuvres.
A Ryanair spokesman said the plane returned to the airport as a precautionary measure following the tailskid of the plane during flight FR208. Oxygen masks were deployed.
A full scale emergency response was enacted by the Dublin Airport Authority.
The airline said the 148 passengers disembarked normally, were given refreshments and accommodated on subsequent flights.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.
The news comes as Ryanair released a vitriolic statement on its October offers featuring an attack on recently closed down flight operator Futura.
In a statement entitled No 'Futura' In High Fares, the budget airline made a gloating attack on the operator, with Ryanair's Deputy Chief Executive, Michael Cawley, saying: "At the same time as another High Fare Airline goes bust, Ryanair continues to reduce fares this winter."
Futura collapsed earlier this week citing high fuel cost as the main issue, leaving 100s stranded and many unemployed.
