Man Dead In Daylight Bookie's Office Shooting
A man has been killed in a Dublin 'bookmakers' shop - after being shot at 11 times.
The attack happened in a broad daylight in the betting office on Killester Avenue in Donnycarney, shortly before 3.00pm on Saturday.
A single gunman wearing a motorcycle helmet entered the betting shop and singled out 25-year-old Christie Barry before opening fire on him with a handgun from close range.
As customers fled the shop, the assassin shot Barry 11 times in the body and head, before making his escape on a motorcycle parked outside.
The bike was later found abandoned around the corner, at La Vista Lane.
A garda spokesman said: "The scene is currently preserved for a full Garda Technical Examination and the body remains at the scene. The services of the State Patologist has been requested."
Gardaí have since linked the murder to the ongoing gang feud in Dublin, and confirmed on Sunday that Barry was an associate of one of the Dublin gang leaders.
Barry had been previously suspected of drug trafficking and, in 2005, received a two-year suspended sentence for possession of drugs.
Two suspects, aged 22 and 23 years, were being held last night at Raheny and Clontarf garda stations.
