Gardaí Seeking Serial Rapist In Carlow
Speculation is mounting over the possibility of a serial rapist on the loose in Carlow town.
Gardaí have refused to rule a link between a number of rapes last year and two new recent attacks in the previous two weeks.
When questioned on the possibility of a serial attacker by an Irish newspaper, Sergeant Benny Mills of Carlow Garda Station said: "We are investigating that. We are not ruling anything in or anything out at this stage. Investigations into last year's incidents is also ongoing."
In the most recent incidents took place the women were walking alone when they were confronted by a lone man.
In one incident, the victim was pinned to the ground before her trousers and underwear were ripped off, before being subjected to a sexual assault.
In a second incident, the woman managed to fight off her attacker after being hurled over a wall.
Gardai say the description of the man is similar in both incidents. He is described as a young Irish male in his late twenties, about 5ft 8in tall, of medium build with brown hair.
