Man Arrested Over Death Of Firemen

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of two firemen in 2007.

Gardaí at Bray made the arrest on Friday morning.

A man in his 40s is now being held for reckless endangerment under the Non-Fatal Offences against the Persons Act.

The arrest is part of the on-going Garda and Heath and Safety Authority (HSA) investigation into the death of the two firemen in Bray on the 26th September 2007.

Mark O'Shaughnessy, 26, and Brian Murray, 46, a father of 13, died when they became trapped inside a smoke-filled factory after its ceiling collapsed during the fire.

The families of the men who died appeared before an Oireachtas Committee earlier this year and called for an independent investigation into the blaze.

They have privately engaged a Glasgow-based firm of international fire investigators to carry out a report on the fire.

Gardai, the Heath and Safety Authority and Wicklow County Council each launched investigations following the deaths.
