Series Of Serious Road Incidents Over Weekend
Gardai are investigating a series of serious road accidents on Ireland's roads over the weekend.
The collisions have left three dead and one injured. The most recent incident, a traffic collision in Co Louth, has left a motorcyclist dead when his bike left the road at 2.30 a.m. on Sunday night at Killany, Louth.
The 23-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, his body was taken to Louth County Hospital were a post mortem examination will be carried out.
Gardai also investigating a collision of a white Toyota Yaris with an oil tanker in Co Meath on the N2 on Saturday morning, and are seeking witnesses to the crash. The driver of the car, a woman in her 30s, was seriously injured and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
The truck driver, a male in his 50's was also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious. The road at the scene in Cushintown, Duleek, was closed and diversions were in place.
A fatal road traffic collision in Burrenrea has also sparked a Gardai investigation at Bailieboro, Co. Cavan. T
he incident occurred at approximately 3.50am on Saturday at Burrenrea, which is 3km on the Kells side of Virginia on the N3. A 19-year-old female pedestrian received fatal injuries when she was struck by a vehicle, and Gardai are particularly interested in making contact with a male who telephoned Bailieboro Garda Station shortly before 4.00am.
In addition any member of the public that may have travelled this stretch of road between 3.30am and 4.10am this morning and have information to offer to contact any Garda station.
Meanwhile, in the North, two young people involved in the Derry accident are in a critical condition after the car they and three others were travelling in crashed on the Mullenan Road between Derry and Carrigans just after 1.45am today (Monday).
The three others were also taken to hospital. All five are understood to be in their late teens and early 20s.
No other vehicles were involved. The Mullenan Road remained closed on Monday morning.

A 25-year-old man has died in a road collision in County Tipperary yesterday evening. Gardai at Nenagh are investigating the single vehicle traffic collision, which occurred at Traverston, Dolla, Co. Tipperary. The young man was fatally injured when the van he was traveling in collided with a ditch. The driver, a 36-year-old male, was also injured.

Teen Arrested After Man Is Shot In The Face In Limerick
Gardai are appealing for information after a man was shot in the face in Limerick on Sunday. A 21-year-old was shot at Hyde Road shortly after midnight. He was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital where his injuries are described as not life threatening. A 19-year-old has bee arrested in connection with the incident.

A male pedestrian in his 40s was fatally injured when he was struck by a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan.

Two Killed In Separate Crashes
Two men, both in their 30s, have been killed in separate road crashes over the weekend.
