Underage Driver Killed And Two Injured In Donegal Crash

A Donegal teenager, who was driving while underage, has been killed in a collision between his car and a van in Co. Donegal.

Gardai at Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal are investgating the two vehicle collision, which occurred at Moyle, Newtowncunningham on Thursday night at approximately 9.00pm.

The crash took place on the N13 just outside Newtowncunningham and involved the two vehicles, leaving the 16 year-old male - who was the sole occupant of his car - fatally injured in the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the van were injured and taken to Letterkenny General Hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.

The busy N13 remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Road Traffic Collision Investigators, leading to significant disruption on the road this morning.

Road Victims Named
The Garda has named the two people who were killed at the weekend in separate road accidents. The 27-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash on Saturday was Barry Murphy of Anneville Crescent, Dundalk, Co. Louth. Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Donegal Petrol Station Robbed
Two armed and masked men have robbed a filling station in County Donegal. At about 3.30pm on Thursday, the pair - one carrying a shotgun, the other a handgun - entered the premises just over the border from Northern Ireland - near Killea.

Woman Killed In Co Longford Collision
A woman has died in a three-car collision in Co Longford. The crash happened on the R198 at Cloonagh at around 7.20pm on Thursday, 30 November. A 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people were also injured, however their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The road has since been re-opened.

Status Yellow Warning Issued For Snow And Ice In 10 Counties
A Status Yellow weather warning has been issued for snow and ice across ten counties. According to Met Éireann the warning is valid from midnight tonight, 01 April, and will remain in place until noon on Wednesday 03 April and will affect all of Connacht and counties Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford and Louth.
