Handbrake Released On Dublin Parking Fees

Motorists in Dublin will be forking out more for parking in the city, as charges increase by up to 20 cents an hour.

Councillors agreed the decision on Monday evening when they accepted a report stating the measure was necessary to restrict the increasing numbers of cars coming into the city.

The new charges will come in on 1 December.

The meeting also heard that the measure would deter motorists from cruising for parking spaces, a significant factor in traffic congestion.

Parking in the inner Yellow Zone will now rise from €2.70 per hour to €2.90 an hour on weekdays, while Red Zone parking will also increase by 20 cents to €2.40.

The Green Zone will also increase but only by 10 cent to €1.60 and other outer zones will remain unchanged.
