Life Sentence For Man Convicted Of Finbar Dennehy Murder

A man has been jailed for life at Dublin's Central Criminal Court, after pleading guilty to the murder of Finbar Dennehy in the city last year.

Michael Downes, 42, of no fixed abode, admitted to the murder of Mr Dennehy, who was found dead in his apartment in Clontarf, north Dublin, in September last year.

Mr Dennehy, 50, had been stabbed and strangled and was found tied up with a plastic bag over his head.

Murder Investigation Launched Into Clontarf Man's Death
Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in an apartment in Clontarf in Dublin on Wednesday. The body of 50-year-old Finbar Dennehy was found in the Merchamp apartment complex on Seafield Road East on Wednesday.

Man In Court Over Clontarf Murder
A 41-year-old man is due in court this afternoon charged in connection with the murder of Finbar Dennehy. Mr Dennehy, 50, was found dead in his apartment last Wednesday stabbed to death in Clontarf, Dublin. The suspect has been in police custody since Saturday night when he was arrested by Gardai at a guesthouse in Dublin city centre at around 8pm.

Life Sentence For Man Found Guilty Of Dublin Murder
A Dublin man has been given a life sentence after he was found guilty of shooting dead a father-of-one who sat as a passenger in a parked car. 27-year-old Jonathan Douglas, aka Yuka, had pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the murder of Aidan Bryne at Drumalee Avenue on February 20th, 2010.

Shot Man's Wounds 'Not Life Threatening'
A 35-year-old man has been shot twice in the leg inside a house in Twinbrook in Co Antrim on the outskirts of Belfast. A young girl and a woman were in the house in the Summerhill Drive area when the attack happened on Wednesday night. However, it is not believed that the man's injuries are life threatening.
