Guilty Plea From Accused In €800,000 Fraud

A man involved in an €800,000 fraud case has pleaded guilty to accusations he used front companies and false identities to scam companies such as Coca-Cola and Unilever.

David Neill, 48, of Merton Walk, Mount Saint Annes, Milltown pleaded guilty to 15 charges relating to the scam including lodging official documents under false names and obtaining goods on false pretences worth up to €46,500. The offences took place between May and November 2002.

Mr Neill had changed his plea to guilty after originally opting to go on trial for the offences.

The court also heard that the Director of Public Prosecutions subsequently decided to drop all 49 charges against Mr Neill's co-accused who was also due to stand trial.

Mr Neill will be sentenced in December.

Murderer Goes On-The-Run
A convicted killer on phased release from prison in the North has evaded authorities and gone on-the-run. Jonathan Peter Neill, 34, had been granted release from Maghaberry Prison to stay at a Coleraine hostel. He last seen on Monday in the Molesworth Road area of Cookstown, Co Tyrone.

One-Year Jail Term For €18,000 HSE Fraud
A man who fraudulently claimed more than €18,000 from the HSE has been sentenced to 12 months in jail. Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin said he accepted that Georgian national George Gabodze, 34, had saved the State the expense of a trial by his guilty plea to 21 counts of fraud but he had to mark the seriousness of the offence with a custodial sentence.

A 29-year-old man, who threatened to shoot a pregnant woman before taking her car, has been jailed for 18 months. Christopher O’Reilly, of Weaver Row South, Brown Street, Dublin, pleaded guilty Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to unlawfully taking the victims car.

74-Year-Old Father Jailed For Abuse Of Daughter
A 74-year-old man has been jailed for the sexual abuse of his daughter, which began when she was 3-years-old. The man admitted he had abused his daughter “once or twice a week” and pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to 22 counts of indecent assault on the now 44-year-old victim between 1972 and 1982.

Teens Plead Guilty To Unprovoked Attack
