Family Of Lost Pensioner Fly Out To Italy
The family of the Irish pensioner who has been missing since the weekend have flown out to assist in the search for the Limerick woman.
Mairead Geary, 82, from the South Circular Road area of the city, has been missing since Friday evening after she went on a peak-top cable car ride on the Mottarone mountain in the Lake Maggiore district.
A former physiotherapist, Ms Greary was part of a 40-strong Limerick Active Retirement Group, which are due to arrive home on Tueday.
Family members, including her two sons, have flown to northern Italy and are taking part in the search of the popular resort with mountain rescue, police and dog rescue teams.
According to reports, Ms Geary left her accommodation at the four-star Hotel Astoria in Stressa in the foothills of Mount Mottarone on Friday to take a cable car tour to the top of the picturesque mountain.
It is believed the woman's friends raised the alarm when she had not returned to the hotel at 7.30pm.

One-Off Grant Announced For Mountain Rescue Services
A special one-off grant of €200,000 is to be made available for Mountain Rescue Ireland, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar and Minister of State for Tourism & Sport, Michael Ring have announced. The ministers said that the funding would be used to purchase new vehicles and equipment.

Dog Survives Five Days Off Cliff
An aging dog named Sam has been saved in a dramatic rescue, after being stranded on a cliff edge for five days. The operation to save the stricken spaniel lasted some four hours, with a member of the Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue team abseiling eight metres down a rock face to where the dog was lodged in shrubbery on a narrow ledge.

A mountain rescue team has recovered the body of the hiker who had gone missing on a Connemara mountain. The 59-year-old hiker's body could not be recovered for almost 24 hours because of the inaccessibility of the location where he had fallen at the weekend.

A woman who fell while climbing in the Mweelrea mountains in Co Mayo yesterday evening has died. Search teams in the Mweelrea Mountains in Co Mayo were called to the scene where the woman, who is in her 30s, fell on Ben Bury peak at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.
