Travelodge To Build Its 'Largest' Hotel In Dublin
Hotel chain Travelodge has expressed confidence in the Irish economy by unveiling plans to build it biggest ever hotel in Dublin city centre.
Planning permission is currently been sought to build the 400 bedroom hotel on Summerhill in the centre of Dublin 1.
It is hoped that construction will commence in early 2009.
The development, measuring 12,713 square metres, will include a restaurant/dining room, bar and 33 basement car parking spaces.
The designs have been submitted by planning consultants Tiros Resources and would see a structure rising from eight to 12 storeys built around a landscaped courtyard.
Travelodge's Managing Director Seamus McGowan said: "We are thrilled to announce plans to develop our largest Travelodge.
"More than ever people want good value for money when choosing hotels. Travelodge has proved itself as a market leader in providing excellent quality, affordable hotels in prime locations," he added.
Travelodge Ireland was set up in 2004 by Richard O'Sullivan and Seamus McGowan who bought the master Franchise for Travelodge for the Island of Ireland.
They now own and operate four Travelodge's in Dublin and additional Travelodge's in Cork, Galway, Belfast, Limerick, Waterford and Derry.
Virtually all of their business is booked through their website Travelodge.ie which is constantly updated with great room rates and special offers.
Travelodge hotels are also located in the UK and Spain where they operate over 330 properties with a very strong presence in all major cities and towns.
Travelodge is currently the largest developer of hotel rooms in the UK especially in London.

Man Dies In Venezuelan Hotel Room
An as yet unnamed man has died in a Venezuelan hotel room when the cocaine filled condoms he was carrying in his stomach burst. It is believed the man in his early 30’s had links to a Co Sligo-based crime family. Police in the Venezuelan capital said they found the man dying in a hotel in the city on Wednesday.

The funeral of poet Seamus Heaney has taken place at Sacred heart Church in Donnybrook. President Michael D Higgins, Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Brian Friel joined his widow Marie and children Michael, Christopher and Catherine Ann for the funeral mass of the writer, who died unexpectedly in a Dublin hospital on Friday. He was 74.

Shelved Dart Plan Wins Planning Approval
The proposed Dart Underground project, which was controversially shelved by the Government earlier this month, has won planning permission from Dublin authorities. The Dart Underground was planned to run from Docklands to Inchicore, and increase the capacity of the Greater Dublin area's rail service to 100 million passenger journeys per annum.
