Weather Warning Worries West
Met Éireann has issued a severe weather warning for the west of Ireland.
Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Mayo, Galway, Clare and Kerry all come under the warning's umbrella, with severe conditions threatening to possibly reach gale force.
The warning from Met Éireann said: "Extremely windy and wet weather developing overnight and tomorrow, with strong to gale force southwest winds giving gusts to 60 knots (110 km/h).
"Heavy rain also with total amounts of 25 to 40 mm possible."
AA Roadwatch has also advised motorists to drive with caution and allow extra time for all journeys, adding that they should be prepared for heavy rain and poor visibility and expect potential fallen debris and strong gusts of wind.
The Road Safety Authority has also issued a warning to motorists, although focussing more on the up-coming bank holiday.
The RSA pointed out that driver fatigue could be a factor in up to one in five serious collisions, so to help wake up drivers this Bank Holiday weekend, Topaz fuel depot's are to give away up to 20,000 free teas and coffees at their network of company owned sites throughout the country.
Supporting the campaign Noel Brett, Chief Executive Officer, Road Safety Authority said: "This initiative from Topaz is particularly timely as we approach a Bank Holiday weekend, always a high risk period on our roads."
