Quinn Family Meet Gardaí Boss

Relatives of murdered Co Armagh man, Paul Quinn are meeting Gardaí Commissioner Fachtna Murphy in Dublin today to discuss the investigation into the murder of the 21-year-old last year.

The Quinns, who will be accompanied by SDLP Deputy Leader Alisdair McDonnell, are also due to meet Irish TDs from the various political parties.

Irish police investigating the death of Paul Quinn, who died after being lured to a cattle shed to be beaten to death by masked men using iron bars and pick axe handles in October last year, have made various arrests in the murder probe.

The detention of the man earlier this month in Cavan, Co Monaghan was only the latest one in the investigation into the brutal killing to date.

A 50-year-old was held at the beginning of September in Dundalk as part of the cross-border investigation into the murder on 22nd October last year.

The latest arrest means the number of people detained by the gardaí and PSNI investigators in Northern Ireland as part of the on-going investigation has reached twelve.

All the other people previously arrested in connection with the 21-year-old's death were later released without charge.

The total is for six people arrested in Northern Ireland and six in the Republic of Ireland.

Mr Quinn's family have consistently accused the IRA of being behind the murder, a claim strongly denied by Sinn Fein.
