NI Man Killed In Hit And Run
Gardaí have named the Northern Ireland man killed in a tragic hit-and-run incident on Saturday night.
The 26-year-old male has been named as Jonathan Heagney from Aughnagar, Galbally, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone.
Gardai at Bailieboro are investigating the fatal collision, which occured on the Carrickmacross Road out of Kingscourt, Co. Cavan.
Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone with information in relation to a dark red/maroon coloured Audi type car that may have been in the area at the time and may have been damaged, to contact the Gardai at Bailieboro.
A Garda spokesman said: "The collision occured when a male pedestrian was hit by an unknown vehicle that failed to stop.
"The male pedestrian in his late twenties was removed to Navan Hospital for a post mortem examination."
The road was closed and diversions were put in place at Drumcondrath Road, Kingscourt and Magheracloone Cross, Carrickmacross for a technical examination.
Investigating Gardai are also anxious to speak to anybody who may have been on the Carrickmacross Road out of Kingscourt area between 2 am and 2 pm
on 042-9694570, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Three Killed On Roads Over Weekend
A total of three deaths have occurred on Irish roads over the weekend. In the first incident, a female driver in her 50s was fatally injured when her car collided with another vehicle and a third vehicle was also involved. Two other people were injured, their injuries are not described as life threatening.

Gardaí Renew Appeal Over Remains Found At Dublin Recycling Plant
Gardaí have renewed an appeal for help in identifying the remains of a man found at a recycling plant in Dublin in July. The human remains were found on 31 July at Thornton's Recycling Plant on Killeen Road, Ballyfermot. Gardaí say that they believe it to be a European male, aged between 25 and 45 and approximately 5'8" to 6' tall.

Two Cyclists Injured In Separate Road Crashes
Two cyclists are being treated in hospital following separate road crashes in Dublin on Tuesday evening, 16 August. A male cyclist was involved in a collision with a car shortly before 6pm outside Terenure College. The cyclist was taken to Tallaght Hospital after being treated at the scene by garda and emergency services.
